We have an opportunity for a Principal Tailings Engineer to join our Perth, Brisbane, or Melbourne office. This position is suited for an experienced individual interested in contributing to and managing innovative projects, including several where we are the designated Engineer or Record.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This role supports our client’s tailings and mine waste management teams to ensure facility safety and compliance with evolving standards, critical for ESG commitments and social license to operate. The role involves providing technical and operational support for Tailings Storage Facilities (TSFs) and Water Storage Facilities (WSF). The candidate is expected to fulfill the role of an Engineer of Record (EoR).
Key Responsibilities
Civil/Geotechnical/Tailings dam design
Geotechnical analyses using various software packages
Understanding of tailing deposition modelling (Muk3D)
Geotechnical and environmental site characterization
Development and management of instrumentation monitoring systems
Project/task management and proposal support
Preparation of engineering reports, design calculations, drawings, technical specifications
Client development
Education and Licensure
Bachelor's degree in civil or geotechnical engineering or related field (required)
Advanced degree preferred
Professional registration preferred
Engineer of Record (EoR) required
Skills, Experience, and Qualifications
Minimum 8 years (10+ preferred) of relevant experience in consulting or equivalent
Knowledge of geotechnical engineering software (required)
Knowledge of numerical modeling tools (preferred)
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple projects, meet deadlines, and travel as needed (required)
Excellent communication skills (required)
Valid Australian driver’s license and good driving record (required)
