Cost: $12,000 AUD (GST inclusive)

Closing Date for EOI Submission: 31st May 2026

Bendigo Health invites Expressions of Interest (EOI) from suitably qualified International Medical Graduates (IMGs) wishing to participate in the Bendigo Health Rural Generalist IMG Prep Program (BRiPREP). This structured bridging program is delivered by Bendigo Health and is designed to support IMGs to become work‐ready for the Australian healthcare system, with a strong focus on rural and regional practice in Victoria. The program combines core knowledge modules with a 14‐week supervised clinical placement, enabling participants to build clinical skills, cultural capability, and professional readiness in line with Australian standards.

Submission of an Expression of Interest allows Bendigo Health to assess eligibility, suitability and cohort demand. Shortlisted applicants will be invited to progress to the formal application and interview stage.

Program Structure

The program is divided into two components:

* Core knowledge modules covering: the Australian healthcare system, healthcare processes and teams, cultural awareness, patient safety, professional roles and responsibilities, medical registration and credentialing requirements, continuing professional development, and sociocultural considerations relevant to clinical practice in Australia.
* Placement component – a 12‐week supervised placement in which the IMG Prep Medical Practitioner rotates through four clinical disciplines and works as part of the healthcare team under AHPRA Level 1 registration or higher. Core skills training includes electronic medical records, cultural safety, Advanced Life Support, ethical practice, cultural consulting, clinical reasoning, intravenous cannulation, team‐based care, recognition and management of the acutely deteriorating patient, and other clinically relevant skills.

At the commencement of the program, participants will complete a learning needs analysis which identifies individual learning priorities and informs placement focus. Throughout the program, workplace‐based assessments and structured feedback further refine learning objectives, culminating in an individual Professional Development Plan and a Certificate of Completion upon successful finalisation of the placement.

Fees and Requirements

* The total program fee is $12,000 AUD (GST inclusive).
* Program fees are exclusive of AHPRA registration and related regulatory fees.
* Full payment is required prior to accepting a position in the program.
* No refunds are provided once payment has been made.
* Completion of the Core Knowledge modules undertaken at a separate cost does not reduce the program fee.
* Participants are responsible for all personal expenses, including accommodation during the placement period and transport to and from rostered sites, including travel between sites where applicable.

Entry Requirements

* Hold a primary medical degree from a recognised tertiary institution in accordance with the AMC Standard Pathway.
* Have completed an internship of at least one year in clinical practice following primary medical qualification in the country of study.
* Have practised medicine for a minimum of two years full time, either in Australia or overseas.
* Hold full working rights in Australia, including a current visa with appropriate work entitlements.
* Have passed the AMC Part 1 examination.
* Be eligible for, or hold, Provisional or Limited registration with AHPRA.
* Demonstrate excellent communication skills, evidenced by high‐level English language proficiency – IELTS overall score of 8.0 or above, or PTE score of 80 or above (or equivalent).
* Meet recency of practice requirements, with clinical practice undertaken within the last two years.
* Be willing to obtain and maintain medical indemnity insurance in Australia prior to commencement of the program.

Application Requirements

* Curriculum Vitae (CV) or resume, including referees.
* Cover letter.
