The Opportunity
We are looking for a motivated and adaptable People Partner to join our evolving People Team. Two of us are going on parental leave later this year, so we are looking for someone who is keen to collaborate with us now and in the future, while also holding down the fort in our absence!
As a small team in a business that is growing in size and complexity, you will have plenty of opportunities to bring your ideas and expertise to the table in pursuit of our team’s goals:
* To coach and support leaders across the business to effectively lead and develop their people
* To ensure the business’s foundations (e.g. core values) are alive and well
* To bring a people ‘lens’ to business strategy
* To use our expertise and data to ensure ‘Kaizen’ (see above!) in the People space
* To ensure we comply with the relevant external requirements
This role will encompass both strategic and hands-on work across all areas of the People function in order to achieve these goals. While we’re a full team, we’ll work collaboratively to each other’s strengths. The rest of the time, you’ll be working autonomously and owning it all, with a specific focus on some priority outcomes:
* Decentralising people leadership to where it happens - in teams!
* Increasing the capability of our leaders to lead (as above)
* Increasing the capability of our people to achieve the goals we (and they) have set for the future
* Improving the transfer of business knowledge and ‘DNA’ between people
* Maintaining the ‘light touch’ BAU and compliance activities we have in place
About You
This isn’t your typical HR role, so we’re not looking for a typical HR person! The way we operate is a little unconventional at times, so it’s critical that you’re a deep thinker who can strategise novel solutions that suit our business. We’re also looking for someone who:
* Is aligned through and through with our core values, as you’ll be a champion for them!
* Leads through influence and puts the time into building strong relationships
* Is skilled in ‘teaching how to fish’ - upskilling leaders of all levels of ability and experience to run effective teams, develop people and problem solve when required (you may even have training/facilitation skills)
* Can operate in ambiguity, be comfortable moving at a fast pace, and adaptable to the way we do things
* Can balance strategic oversight and leader support with being hands on when required
* Can work autonomously and as part of a team (you will also have a part time team member to support)
* Has a solid working knowledge of all things employment (legislation, best practice etc.)
* Is quick to pick up new technology (especially Deputy, Asana, Slack)
