About The Position
The Mental Health/Behaviour Support Worker will provide support to people living with complex trauma, psycho-social challenges, and needs, following their individual program plans. Working collaboratively with external care teams and families, the role involves delivering high-quality, person-centered support to help participants enhance their daily living skills, participate in the community, achieve their goals, and improve their overall quality of life, including their physical and mental health.
Responsibilities
1. Support participants with daily living skills and community activities, including housekeeping, personal hygiene, medication administration, and transportation to appointments and community events.
2. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of participants' needs and care plans, adjusting support as necessary.
3. Facilitate community inclusion and participation based on individual preferences, abilities, and needs. Support participants in establishing and maintaining relationships and interests through access to community activities and services.
4. Collaborate with the participant’s clinical team, attend training sessions, and participate in regular updates to ensure care plans are effectively implemented and meet high standards of care.
About You
You will succeed in this role by bringing the following experience:
* Qualification in disability, mental health, or a related field (desirable)
* At least 2 years of experience supporting individuals with complex mental health issues and behavioral support needs
* Proven experience supporting participants with high needs
* Understanding of professional boundaries and restrictive practices
* Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently and under pressure
* Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, including clear case note documentation
* Strong interpersonal skills for teamwork and autonomous work
Required Certifications and Clearances:
* NDIS Worker Screening Clearance
* Current First Aid Certificate
* NSW Driver’s License and access to a vehicle
