About the TeamThe Haematology and Haemophilia Service is part of the Queensland Paediatric Palliative care and Haematology and Oncology Network (QPPHON) which provides clinical leadership, multidisciplinary expertise and consultancy to state-wide clinicians.The Haematology & Haemophilia Group / Service is a state-wide service which provides tertiary Level 6 inpatient and ambulatory care of children with non-malignant blood disorders, Haemophilia, inherited bleeding disorders and vascular medicine. The service provides care to patients with haemoglobinopathies receiving chronic transfusions, patients with thrombotic disorders with anticoagulation management of non-Cardiology patients and other varied conditions. The service has a collaborative team of medical, nursing and allied health staff to provide comprehensive care to acute and chronic patients as well as advocacy and co-ordination of complex care.The Queensland Haemophilia Centre has services at the Queensland Children's Hospital (children and adolescents) and the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital (adults) and provides a state-wide service providing comprehensive care to support children, adolescents and adults with inherited bleeding disorders and their families. QCHC cares for patients from infancy to adolescence (18 years of age) with severe, moderate and mild haemophilia A and B, and other inherited bleeding disorders such as von Willebrand disease, platelet function disorders and other rare bleeding disorders.
