Role Overview
Reporting directly to the Construction Manager, the Field Execution Leader coordinates subcontractors, manages resources, ensures adherence to safety and environmental regulations, and ensures the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role involves managing complex, large‑scale projects in remote or challenging environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Site Management: Oversee and coordinate all on‑site operations related to wind turbine Major component upgrade including crane operation, site mob & preparation, component exchanges, and completion of electrical and mechanical systems as per the MCU scope.
- Subcontractor and Vendor Coordination: Lead and manage subcontractors, suppliers, vendors, and site laborers to ensure productive work aligned with the overall project scope. Conduct performance reviews and resolve issues related to resource allocation or delays.
- Safety and Regulatory Compliance: Enforce safety protocols, conduct inspections, risk assessments and implement corrective actions to address hazards.
- Stakeholder Communication: Serve as primary point of contact for all MCU stakeholders, providing updates, progress reports and addressing concerns.
- Problem‑Solving and Issue Resolution: Respond quickly to on‑site problems, including equipment breakdowns, supply chain issues, and unforeseen obstacles. Collaborate with engineering, technical support, and other functions.
- Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed records of daily activities, safety inspections, incident reports, project delays and scope changes. Complete SRs and site reports.
- Mentorship and Team Development: Act as mentor, provide training, guidance and support to staff to advance their careers.
- Planning and Scheduling: Work with the Project Manager for upcoming project planning, coordinate project schedules, daily rosters, labor plans, and resource allocation.
- Technical File Coordination: Organize site surveys and coordinate with internal teams & contractors to build technical files (lifting plan protocols, etc.).
- Quality Assurance: Ensure MCU Site lead and Team execute jobs as per correct WDI, GE Life Saving Rules are followed, and any breach is reported promptly.
- Time‑card Management: Check and approve timecards of Techs and track the cost.
Required Skills & Experience
- Leadership & Team Management: Proven leadership skills, experience leading MCU GE site teams, subcontractors and workers.
- Safety & Compliance Expertise: Knowledge of safety regulations, protocols and industry standards; experience enforcing safety measures.
- Problem‑Solving & Troubleshooting: Ability to quickly identify, analyze and resolve complex construction issues.
- Effective Communication: Ability to clearly convey project status, safety protocols, and technical requirements.
- Project & Site Management: Expertise in planning, scheduling and supervising multiple tasks and subcontractors simultaneously.
Qualifications / Requirements
- Trade Qualifications and Experience: Recognized trade qualification relevant to the role; minimum ten years hands‑on experience in mechanical, electrical or instrumentation fields.
- Supervisory Experience: At least five years as a site supervisor or equivalent leadership position.
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering or related field preferred.
- Proficiency in MS‑Office, Smartsheet and Oracle‑ERP; experience with resource allocation tools.
Work Environment
- Location: Remote or project/FSA sites; may involve travel and extended periods away from home.
- Physical Demands: Exposure to harsh weather, extended hours, climbing wind turbines, manual labor, high‑altitude environments.
- Work Schedule: Flexibility required, including extended hours, weekends and holidays as necessary.
- Time Zone: Possible work across multiple time zones and responding outside normal hours.
