The team supporting the Senior Data Analyst at the Department of Health Tasmania is a multidisciplinary group of analysts and business intelligence professionals who deliver data‐driven insights to inform health service planning and performance. They manage and analyse complex datasets, produce reporting and dashboards, and work closely with clinical and operational stakeholders to translate data into clear, actionable information. The team operates in a collaborative, governance‐focused environment, prioritising data quality, privacy, and continuous improvement to support better health outcomes across Tasmania.
Role
The Senior Data Analyst will undertake data collection, reporting and analysis to support Population Screening and Cancer Prevention (PSCP) service development, reporting, planning and other PSCP initiatives. The Senior Data Analyst will be responsible for the development of reports and processes for PSCP to meet required reporting and data quality obligations internally, statewide and nationally, as well as developing and maintaining effective linkages between other business units and jurisdictions for the exchange of data and information to support business, Agency, and Australian Government health initiatives.
Responsibilities
* Utilise SQL programming and data visualisation programs to develop and analyse accurate indicator reports and data visualisations to support PSCP operations and strategic planning, including monitoring and providing advice to PSCP management on results and trends in the data.
* Prepare and update PSCP indicators, data analyses, reports, briefings, including recommendations, for a broad range of stakeholders including PSCP management, other senior DoH management as required, and external parties within agreed timeframes to meet PSCP reporting obligations, ensuring that approval processes are followed for data requests submitted by external parties.
* Undertake complex and in‐depth research and analysis, including financial and/or demand modelling and maintain regular and detailed analytical processes to inform and shape decisions in relation to the implementation of those initiatives.
Details of appointment
Fixed term full‐time day worker position, working 76 hours per fortnight, commencing as soon as possible until 31 May 2027.
Notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary
$107,899 to $122,292 per annum. Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount. Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022.
