The Role
Ventia is seeking a Fire Capability Manager to oversee and manage two sites in Victoria (Puckapunyal and Bandianna). Services include firefighting, rescue, and emergency response. The Fire Capability Manager will provide leadership to ensure the successful deployment of personnel, equipment, planning, and stakeholder engagement to support Defence capability. The role emphasizes safety, compliance, and people leadership to ensure optimal service delivery.
Duties Include:
* Ensure station teams maintain high operational preparedness for immediate response and management of all contracted emergency scenarios
* Accountable for resource allocation, including personnel, fleet, equipment, and training, to meet contract and financial objectives
* Foster an inclusive working environment through employee engagement and service excellence
* Build relationships with Defence Service Personnel, SEG Leadership, Base Community, and Industry partners to promote Ventia Fire and Rescue
* Lead safety, environment, and health initiatives by role modeling LEAD behaviours (Learning, Engaging, Accountability, Discipline) and cultivating a culture of compliance
* Contribute to redefining service excellence by developing a world-class emergency response service
About you:
* Experience in emergency management in high-risk, dynamic environments is highly desirable
* Graduate or Post Graduate qualification in Business Management
* Background in complex service delivery across dispersed and/or multi-agency operations with a large workforce
* Able to work autonomously and manage competing priorities based on risk
* Excellent communication, influencing, and relationship-building skills
* Experience with leading people programs, including recruitment, training, leadership development, workforce planning, mentoring, and change management; competency-based training experience is an advantage
* Experience with Enterprise Agreements and union partnerships
* Customer-centric approach, especially with Defence as a client
* Strategic and commercially astute, with experience in workforce planning, financial reporting, SHEQ, compliance, and governance
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
* Must be eligible for and able to maintain a Defence Security Clearance; Australian Citizenship required
