About the role
The Survey Officer (Animal Management) position improves dog registration rates within the Region by conducting approved inspection programs. The officer also maintains community amenity by assessing permit applications to ensure they are consistent with Council's local laws and community expectations, and improves public safety by ensuring regulated dogs are kept in accordance with the Animal Management (Cats and Dogs) Act 2008 and relevant local laws.

The Client
Balonne Shire Council manages local infrastructure and services — roads, town planning, public works, drainage, and community services. The council oversees environmental protection, biosecurity and pest/feral‑animal management across the Shire and supports local economies, businesses, and agriculture to sustain regional industries and enable community growth.
Essential Knowledge and Skills
* Safely capture and impound animals; handle animals and work in environments that animals frequent.
* Perform any other animal management duties that are reasonably within the competency, skills, and training.
Experience
* Experience working with and handling a variety of animals.
* Ability to formulate concise and accurate written reports and correspondence.
* Experience in navigating and interpreting State legislation and local laws is desirable.
Qualifications
Mandatory – this role requires the possession of a C Class Open Australian Driver's Licence.
