As a Senior Radiation Safety Advisor, you will provide expert scientific and technical services to support researchers and users of the University's radiation facilities, substances, and equipment.
About the Role
This is a full-time, ongoing position based at our Bentley campus. You will work closely with colleagues to develop, implement, and maintain the University's radiation safety management program.
* Develop and maintain the University's radiation safety management program to ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations;
* Provide expert technical advice and conduct investigations into radiation safety incidents;
* Liaise with stakeholders to promote best practice in radiation management;
* Lead radiation safety training programs for staff and students.
Your Key Responsibilities
You will be responsible for:
* Ensuring compliance with the Radiation Safety Act 1975 (WA), Radiation Safety Regulations, and the Nuclear Non-Proliferation (Safeguards) Act 1987 (Cth);
* Acting as the designated Radiation Safety Officer and Compliance Officer;
* Providing expert technical advice on radiation safety matters;
* Leading radiation safety training programs for staff and students.
Your Qualifications and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
* A degree or qualifications in Science, Engineering, or related fields such as Physics, Materials Management, or Materials Science;
* Extensive experience in radiation practices and training;
* Radiation Safety qualification(s) as outlined in the Radiation Safety (Qualifications) Regulation;
* A strong understanding of relevant State and Commonwealth legislation and regulations.
