Role Overview
The Activities Officer plays a pivotal role in enhancing the lives of aged care residents through tailored recreational activities that promote psychological, social and emotional wellbeing.
This involves motivating individuals towards emotional and physical rehabilitation through leisure and recreational activities that elevate their overall quality of life.
* Providing individual-centred approaches to recognise leisure and recreational experiences as an inherent right of all individuals.
* Facilitating person-centred leisure and recreation programs tailored to meet the diverse needs of consumers with the goal of improving quality of life.
* Ensuring activities are designed to support, challenge and enhance the psychological, spiritual, social, emotional, cultural, spiritual and physical wellbeing of individuals.
* Providing opportunities for individuals to participate in leisure and recreation activities that foster self-esteem and personal growth.
* Facilitating individual client choice, decision making and participation when developing and managing recreational programs.
* Performing implemented activities as per monthly programs and modifying activities as required to enable consumer participation.
* Ensuring standards of care, including suitable programs and continuous improvement.
* Maintaining a professional approach to all work and ensuring exceptional personal presentation.
* Providing day-to-day support and assistance to the activities team.
* Exercising initiative and proactivity in completing routine tasks without daily direction.
* Maintaining regular communication with the supervisor to clarify workflow direction.
Key Qualifications:
* Relevant qualifications and experience in leisure and recreation or a related field.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Able to motivate and inspire individuals to engage in leisure and recreational activities.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
* Flexibility to adapt to changing situations and priorities.
