Manager, Business Development (FSI/Commercial). Avanade is the world's leading Microsoft expert, delivering digital, cloud, data, AI, and security solutions. We collaborate with Microsoft and Accenture to help organisations realise the value of Microsoft technologies. We are expanding our Sales organization in Australia and seek an experienced Business Development Manager to drive market growth, originate opportunities, and expand strategic client relationships.
As a Manager, Business Development, you will identify, shape, and close complex Microsoft-led transformation opportunities in the FSI/Commercial sector, working with Client Solutions & Practices teams, Microsoft, and Accenture to deliver measurable business outcomes.
You are a trusted advisor—commercially astute, industry-informed, and passionate about helping clients modernise through technology.
Key Responsibilities
* Originate, qualify, structure, negotiate, and close consulting and managed services engagements across Avanade's Microsoft-aligned portfolio
* Execute go-to-market and sales strategies within your assigned industry or territory to drive sustainable revenue growth
* Develop and manage a robust pipeline aligned to Avanade's sales methodology and forecast rigor
* Lead pursuits through the full sales lifecycle from opportunity identification to contract execution
* Partner with: Client Solutions & Practices teams; Marketing, Finance, Legal, and Sales Operations; Microsoft and Accenture alliance teams
* Translate complex client challenges into compelling, outcome-focused solutions that demonstrate business value
* Build and maintain executive-level relationships across client organizations and partner ecosystems
Qualifications
Skills and Experience
* Proven experience selling Microsoft-centric consulting and managed services, ideally across cloud, data, AI, business applications, or digital transformation
* Strong understanding of complex buying environments
* Experience managing large, complex deals with long sales cycles
* Strong commercial acumen, pipeline discipline, and deal orchestration capability
* Highly organized, resilient, and effective across geographically distributed stakeholders

Main Responsibilities (Selected)
* Participate in presales and delivery activities; gain experience on the job to inform new proposals
* Collaborate with cross-technical teams to propose innovative solutions across multiple areas
* Advise clients on fit-for-purpose architectures and nonfunctional requirements
* Architect and deploy Azure-based solutions using DevSecOps practices
* Deliver using Agile methodologies with emphasis on code quality and delivery commitments
Technical Requirements
English oral and written communication required. Strong technical writing, presentation, and training skills.
* Microsoft Intune: device compliance, application deployment, endpoint protection, policy management, enrolment, configurations, and integrations
* Autopilot & Provisioning: Windows Autopilot profiles, OEM provisioning, deployment scenarios, troubleshooting
* Experience with Autopilot deployment scenarios (user-driven, pre-provisioning, self-deploying, Autopilot Reset, etc.)
Role Overview and AI Focus:
* Join Avanade's Global Integrated Center of Excellence (ICOE) as a hands-on AI Application Architect to design agentic, cloud-native applications and drive transformation across Azure, AWS, and GCP
* Architect AI-powered applications using autonomous and semi-autonomous agentic frameworks; apply AI agents across delivery phases
* Develop accelerators, reference architectures, and reusable assets for agentic AI patterns; guide engineering, data, and DevOps teams
* Travel occasionally for high-value client engagements
