Jetpets is looking for a professional and reliable Payroll Officer to join our team on a part-time, permanent basis.
About the Role
The Payroll Officer is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for all employees across the business. The successful candidate will ensure compliance with relevant awards, taxation, and superannuation obligations. This is a part-time position and has the chance for flexible work arrangements.
Jetpets focuses on pet travel, transporting thousands of pets interstate and overseas every year and reuniting them with their friends and families.
Responsibilities
- Process end-to-end payroll on a weekly/fortnightly basis using TMS and Access MicrOpay systems.
- Maintain and update employee records, including bank details, tax identification numbers and employment changes.
- Collect, verify and upload timesheets and other data to calculate employee work hours.
- Ensure payroll practices align with Fair Work and ATO requirements.
- Schedule electronic payments and distribute payslips, ensuring accurate and timely payment to all employees.
- Interpret and apply the Road Transport and Distribution Award and the Clerks Award correctly.
- Monitor and adjust for changes in award conditions.
- Maintain payroll records and ensure data integrity across systems.
- Prepare and lodge PAYG, superannuation, and other statutory obligations.
- Manage employee queries related to payroll, leave, and entitlements.
- Utilise system features to streamline payroll processes.
- Collaborate with HR and Finance teams to ensure seamless payroll operations.
- Generate payroll reports and provide insights for management as required.
- Assist with audits and compliance checks.
- Stay up to date with changes in legislation and award conditions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate IV in Payroll Administration or equivalent (preferred).
- Relevant experience in payroll and award interpretation.
- TMS and Access MicrOpay Payroll system experience (preferred).
- Experience with the Road Transport and Distribution Award and Clerks Award.
Skills and Competencies
- Proven experience in payroll processing for a medium-sized workforce.
- Strong working knowledge of TMS and Access MicrOpay Payroll systems.
- In-depth understanding of Australian payroll legislation and award interpretation.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong experience across various IT, CRM, and Microsoft Office platforms.
- Experience in a transport or logistics environment (preferred but not essential).
