About the team About the commission We are Australia’s trade remedies authority - the Anti-Dumping Commission. The commission is responsible for undertaking investigations into allegations of unfair international trade practices involving goods entering Australia and administering Australia’s anti-dumping legislation. About the branch The commission’s Investigations Branch is made up four investigations teams and a quality assurance and verification team. The branch undertakes highly technical anti-dumping and subsidy investigations. Investigations teams engage with a wide range of stakeholders and prepare reports that apply relevant legislation, policy and practice. Investigations teams conduct detailed research and complex analysis of financial and economic data. Investigations are subject to potential merits, judicial and World Trade Organization review. Our ideal candidate The Investigations Branch has multiple APS5 positions available. If you have relevant and/or transferrable skills and experience, we’d love to hear from you. We are looking for motivated and skilled candidates who have: Good case/project management skills, including managing milestones and driving timely delivery Proficiency in analysing and interpreting company financial data - including financial statements and financial management system records - extracting insights and examining it critically to ensure accuracy and inform decision-making A good understanding of interpreting and applying legislation, policies, and procedures Intermediate to advanced level Microsoft Excel skills (highly desirable) – although training can be provided Skills, experience or qualifications in one or more of the following areas, although not mandatory, would be highly regarded: international trade, regulatory compliance, auditing, commercial investigations, business, commerce, accounting or economics. What you will do This role assists the Senior Analyst/Case Investigator (APS 6) and the Case Manager (EL1) by contributing to core outputs for the case. You will work within a team to contribute to anti-dumping and countervailing investigations. Specific tasks include: Examining and analysing trade, business, industry and financial data Managing use of case management records (e.g. evidence, analysis, risks and issues, briefing notes, meeting notes etc.) Supporting the coordination of case communications (circulation of critical information, formal advice received, meeting requests, agendas, plans, relevant submissions etc.) Assisting to draft reports and briefing papers Working collaboratively within a team of investigators (analysts/auditors), policy, quality assurance and legal advisory staff. There is a high degree of direct engagement with Australian and international industry, including opportunities for domestic and international travel to conduct verification activities. You will be supported by a comprehensive training and induction program to help ensure you succeed in the role. For example: Case 554 - Concrete Underlay Film from Malaysia and particularly the commission’s final report on the matter: Final Report - REP 554 Eligibility To be eligible for employment in the APS and the department, candidates must be Australian Citizens. Positions require a Baseline security clearance and successful candidates will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level. Notes The department does currently offer flexible work opportunities for many roles.
