Young People Support Worker

Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced youth worker to deliver comprehensive alcohol and other drug education services to young people accessing our service. The successful candidate will assess young people's strengths and challenges related to substance use, motivation, and independence, and actively contribute to their case management and goal planning.
The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with young people from diverse backgrounds and abilities. They will also have up-to-date knowledge of resources in the youth services field, including alcohol and other drugs, education, training, and employment.
This role is essential in supporting young people to meet their goals through building and maintaining professional networks in the youth and homelessness support sector, facilitating referrals, providing informal counselling and support approaches, and coordinating development programs with a focus on harm minimisation and promoting mental health and wellbeing.
Required Skills and Qualifications
* Diploma level qualification in Human Services, combined with significant skills and experience in youth work, or tertiary qualification in Youth Work, Social Work, or related behavioural science discipline (must meet current eligibility for full membership with relevant associations)
* Case management and assessment skills
* Ability to accept, respect, and work with young people from a broad range of backgrounds and abilities
* Up-to-date knowledge of resources in the youth services field, including alcohol and other drugs, education, training, and employment
* Understanding of youth housing and accommodation systems

* A competitive salary starting from $84K + 12% superannuation
* Salary packaging of up to $15,900 (approx. $4K after tax) plus up to $2,650 for meal and entertainment expenses
