What you'll deliver with us
The NGIP Platform Manager will be accountable for the Australia Post NextGen Integration Platform (NGIP) utilising the vendor supplied Confluent software, ensuring the platform is optimised and operational to underpin our future strategy. This critical enterprise position is responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, implementation, and management of NGIP within the organisation. The role ensures the platform's stability, scalability, and security while driving innovation and efficiency. The manager will collaborate with various departments to align the NGIP solution with business objectives, enhance customer engagement, and support the organisation's transformation initiatives.
This role will be managing technology professionals, including engineers, and will work across the full software development lifecycle. The position is accountable for both technology change and the run of NGIP, supporting the organisation, including business continuity, compliance, and security obligations. Deep technical knowledge of the platform is essential in this role to deliver on the transformation agenda. The role collaborates closely with technology peers and strategic programs to ensure NGIP and cloud services are highly available, well governed, and that changes are consistently and reliably delivered. This role exists in an evolving environment, supporting the transition from incumbent platforms to target‐state cloud services.

* Provide enterprise leadership for NGIP as a foundational enabler of Customer Experience and Corporate Transformation outcomes.
* Provide Subject Matter Expertise and thought leadership to the broader Technology organisation regarding Integration & the NextGen Integration Platform.
* Set and enforce the target‐state NGIP technical and security direction, ensuring consistency across programmes, portfolios, and business units.
* Establish NGIP as secure, resilient, and scalable enterprise services capable of supporting Australia Post's most critical business operations.
* Accountable for the technology delivery lifecycle services (plan, build, test, run), including projects, minor works and BAU changes that may involve more than one business platform.
* Ensure strong financial governance across NGIP services, including forecasting and budget accountability.
* Accountable for service management including service level agreements, service continuity, change, incident and problem management and the provision of service and performance metrics and reporting for the platform.
* Drive enterprise‐level optimisation of NGIP cloud consumption and platform spend, actively managing demand, capacity, and contractual commitments.
About you
We are looking for a good communicator who can drive the implementation of the Event Streaming strategy at Australia Post. This is a varied role where you will need to navigate competing priorities, time pressures and stakeholder expectations in a large‐scale transformation context. Internally you'll work with Heads of Technology & GM's, Enterprise Architecture team, Cyber and Technology Managers. Externally you'll be collaborating with partners, vendors, Cloud (AWS/GCP) platform providers and implementation partners (Deloitte, Accenture, TCS).
You'll also need
* Technical experience implementing and supporting Event Streaming platforms in large, complex, enterprise environments undergoing significant transformation.
* Demonstrated leadership within Confluent/Kafka software.
* Strong experience managing strategic vendor relationships, including Confluent, system integrators and managed service providers.
* Experience working within regulated or highly governed environments with strong risk, security and compliance obligations.
* Background leading engineering teams and previous experiences as a hands‐on platform/product engineer or architect.
* In‐depth knowledge of Event Streaming current and emerging technologies, including but not limited to Confluent Cloud, Confluent Platform, and core components such as Apache Kafka, Schema Registry, Kafka Connect, and ksqlDB.
* Understanding of commercial models for Event Streaming software, cloud subscriptions and managed services, including usage‐based pricing, subscription licensing and long‐term contractual implications such as SLAs, compliance and data residency.
* Implementation experience of industry best practice for event streaming platform resilience, availability, disaster recovery and security in mission‐critical environments.
