Fitzroy Mining Operations is a new force in the Queensland metallurgical coal mining industry with a portfolio of existing operations and a pipeline of growth projects.
In our short history, we have successfully reinvigorated operations at Carborough Downs underground mine, breathed new life into the Broadlea open cut and we also have our new underground longwall mine at Ironbark No.1.
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and capable HR Advisor to join our team and work closely with the Human Resources Superintendent.
In this role, you will support the delivery of a wide range of HR services across the operation, provide reliable advice to leaders and employees, and help foster a positive and high-performing workplace culture.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver confidential, high-quality HR assistance to the HR Superintendent.
Contribute to the creation and review of HR policies, procedures, and supporting documents.
Offer accurate HR guidance to employees and line managers.
Support the resolution of employee concerns, including participating in investigations when required.
Assist the HR Superintendent with performance management matters.
Manage the onboarding process for site employees to ensure a smooth and compliant experience.
Coordinate and maintain accurate employee change-of-condition information across HR, payroll, and operational teams.
Regularly update, cleanse, and maintain HR system data.
Oversee electronic personnel filing to ensure accuracy and accessibility.
Provide employees with clear information on HR programs and company benefits.
Administer and track the use of employee benefits.
Maintain leave and absence records, ensuring compliance with policy and investigating irregularities.
Generate and provide HR reports as needed.
Stay informed on current and emerging HR, ER, and IR trends and issues.
What you need
Minimum 3 years' experience in a generalist HR position.
Strong knowledge of HR, ER, and IR legislation and practices.
Experience working with blue-collar employees, preferably in a resources or industrial environment.
Understanding of how HR and payroll processes integrate.
Relevant tertiary qualification (Bachelor's degree or Diploma in Human Resources).
A proactive, solutions-focused approach with a "Yes-first" mindset.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities effectively.
Skilled in communicating with employees at all levels.
Able to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.
Comfortable engaging with senior leaders and providing informed advice.
Resilient and effective under pressure.
Strong administrative and organisational capabilities.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
