About the Role

The Public Transport Authority (PTA) is seeking a suitably skilled and highly motivated Senior Project Manager – Rollingstock to join the Transperth Train Operations division. Reporting to the Delivery Manager, Rollingstock and based at Perth Station, this position is responsible for the manufacturing, commissioning, and implementation of the METRONET Railcar Procurement Project specifically the delivery of our new C-Series and Australind rollingstock fleets.


Key Responsibilities

* Lead the delivery of rollingstock procurement projects, including project planning, coordination of project teams, and ensuring compliance with safety, quality, cost and schedule requirements.
* Provide specialist technical and project management expertise across the design, manufacturing, testing and commissioning of new rollingstock, ensuring alignment with PTA operational standards and Engineering Assurance.
* Manage consultants, contractors and medium-to-high-risk contracts, including procurement activities, tender evaluations, contract administration, performance management, and risk mitigation.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support effective project development, delivery and issue resolution.
* Oversee quality, safety and engineering compliance, including site inspections, acceptance testing, non-conformance management, and the development of systems to monitor contractor performance.
* Provide leadership and guidance to project teams, fostering a positive team environment, mentoring staff, and contributing to divisional strategy, frameworks and continuous improvement initiatives.


About You

To be successful in this role, you should possess:

* Proven experience in the planning, design, and delivery of rollingstock projects and associated infrastructure.
* Strong stakeholder and people management capabilities, including the ability to provide clear guidance, expert advice and effective direction, while leading staff, consultants and contractors to achieve project outcomes.
* Well-developed written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to negotiate effectively and build constructive working relationships.
* Relevant project and contract management expertise, supported by sound technical knowledge aligned to the program area.
* Exceptional communication and interpersonal strengths, enabling you to influence stakeholders and collaborate across diverse sectors.
* Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strategic mindset and the ability to deliver innovative, practical solutions.
* Engineering degree or qualification eligible for Engineers Australia corporate membership.

There is currently a one fixed term opportunity available to 31 December 2027 with the possibility of renewal and/or permanency. Applicants assessed as suitable through this process may be used to fill similar vacancies on a fixed term or permanent basis that may arise within the next 12 months.
