About the Role


The Friends' School is seeking a motivated and service-oriented Service Desk Technician to join our Information Services team.

This role provides the first point of contact for Information Services requests, assisting staff and students across multiple campuses. You will provide support face-to-face at the service desk, respond to inbound calls, and manage requests with professionalism and care.

The Service Desk Technician will deliver Level 1 support, with the ability to escalate issues where required, and will play a key role in maintaining the smooth operation of technology across the School. Success in this role requires strong technical skills, clear communication, and a genuine commitment to customer service.


Key Focus Areas

* Provide first-line technical support for students and staff, ensuring timely resolution or escalation of issues.
* Repair, configure and maintain School devices including laptops, iPads, desktops, printers, and audio-visual equipment.
* Support deployment of approved software and maintain accurate asset records.
* Assist staff and students with the effective use and care of ICT systems.
* Contribute to documentation of standard procedures and record solutions to common issues.
* Adhere to child safeguarding and information security responsibilities at all times.

Essential Qualifications

* Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (employment category).
* A current National Police Check (less than 6 months old).


Desirable Skills and Experience

* Certificate IV in Information Technology (or equivalent, completed or in progress).
* Experience with Apple MacOS and iOS, Microsoft Windows, and Office 365.
* Knowledge of or willingness to learn Google Workspace, JAMF Pro, ITSM software, and ITIL service desk processes.
* Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to provide constructive and friendly support.
* Highly motivated, flexible, and committed to professional growth.
* Previous experience in an educational environment will be highly regarded.
