Key Role in Hepatitis C Management
The Clinical Nurse Consultant (CNC) plays a pivotal role in the development and coordination of the Hepatitis C program. This includes assessment, monitoring, treatment initiation, and follow-up of clients with Chronic Hepatitis C infection.
The CNC works with different testing modalities, including Dried Blood Spot (DBS) testing and Point of Care Testing (PoCT). They provide clinical consultancy, leadership, education, and support for service planning and management.
Main responsibilities include:
* Providing expert clinical consultancy practice in service development and implementation
* Leading quality improvement and clinical service standards
* Acting as a role model and engaging staff, carers, patients, and consumers to facilitate practice change related to patient care
The CNC will work in various locations, including outreach services, Non-government organisations, and collaborate in district-wide testing. They will develop and maintain relationships with key partner organisations.
