An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a suitably qualified person to join the Youth, Sport and Recreation Team as a Part Time Community Development Officer - Youth on an ongoing basis.

If you’re a strategic thinker who understands processes and systems, communicates effectively, and builds strong relationships, all while being passionate about youth and community development, this could be the role for you.

Position Overview

This is a new part time (0.5 FTE) ongoing employment opportunity based at ‘The Station’, as the Rural City of Murray Bridge Youth Hub.

The primary purpose of this role is the creation of an empowered and resilient community where every community member can live a healthy life and feel safe, connected and included

The Community Development Officer - Youth will support the planning, delivery and evaluation of Youth Engagement, Networks and Programs, Events and Projects, and provide meaningful activities, pathways and connections and which assist local young people to achieve their goals in community and cultural pursuits (learn, earn and connect).

Key Responsibilities

Your key responsibilities will include supporting:

- the planning and delivery of programs and projects that provide meaningful activities, pathways and connections and which assist local young people to achieve their goals in community and cultural pursuits
- the establishment of the (new) Youth Engagement Model/Group,
- the development of strong relationships with youth service providers, key community organisations and other stakeholders,
- the coordination of activities in and maintenance of The Station – Youth Hub, and
- the coordination of youth volunteers and work experience placements.

This is an exciting opportunity to have a positive community impact by supporting youth in our growing region. To succeed in this role you will be:

- A confident communicator that understands the issues affecting young people, with a background in youth development, human services or community services/development or similar.
- A creative thinker with a strong customer service ethic with a youth centric mindset and can provide youth services within in a local government environment.
- A deep understanding of how to work effectively with diverse communities and with different stakeholder groups.

The position is offered ongoing as a part-time role in accordance with the South Australian Municipal Salaried Officers Award and Council’s current Enterprise Agreement within an annual FTE salary of $91,480 - $95,899 dependent upon skills, knowledge and experience and pro-rata to 0.5 FTE.
