Opportunity
Designers/Draftspersons needed for a 12‐month fixed‐term contract on the Hunter Class Frigate Program. Positions available in Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney, Cairns or Perth. No prior shipbuilding experience required.
Responsibilities
Work as part of an international Detail Design team, delivering high‐quality spatial integration and production outputs using digital engineering tools (AutoCAD, FORAN, Windchill, AVEVA ERM, etc.) for the Hunter Class Frigate Program. Duties differ by experience level:
* Intermediate (2‐10 years): identify customer needs, meet expectations, report progress, maintain technical documents, participate in problem‐solving teams, and follow engineering, drafting, and quality management standards.
* Senior (10+ years): lead a small team of designers, ensure team competence in core tools, support the Detail Design Discipline Lead, act as delegated engineering authority, manage work packages, planning, estimation and scheduling.
Qualifications
* Diploma of Engineering (Technical) or equivalent industry experience.
* Experience with 2D&3D CAD in AutoCAD or similar packages (SOLIDWORKS, Inventor, PTC Creo, Siemens NX, REVIT).
* Design or draftsperson experience in maritime, heavy engineering, oil & gas, infrastructure or building services industries.
* Experience producing shop detail or manufacturing drawings.
* Experience with design office quality review processes.
* Strong attention to detail and problem‐solving skills.
* Good communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
