Position Description: Speech Therapist Job Title: Speech Therapist Department: Allied Health Location: Sunshine Coast / Hybrid Work Model Job Type: Full-Time Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate communication, speech, language, and swallowing difficulties in NDIS participants. Develop individualized, evidence-based therapy plans to support participants in improving their communication skills, social interaction, and overall quality of life. Implement therapy interventions, including speech exercises, language development strategies, and assistive communication devices, tailored to participants’ needs. Work collaboratively with participants, their families, carers, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a coordinated and holistic approach to therapy. Educate families, caregivers, and support workers on effective communication strategies and techniques to enhance participants’ daily interactions. Monitor and assess progress regularly, adjusting intervention plans as needed to align with participants’ evolving goals and abilities. Maintain accurate, timely documentation of assessments, therapy sessions, progress reports, and outcomes in accordance with NDIS guidelines and professional standards. Requirements: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Speech Pathology from an accredited institution. Current registration with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA). Professional indemnity insurance. Experience working with individuals with speech, language, and communication disorders. Knowledge of the NDIS framework and experience developing therapy plans for NDIS participants. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team. Current driver’s license and willingness to travel to participants’ homes or community settings as required. Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with NDIS participants. Additional training or certification in Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems. Knowledge of paediatric and adult speech therapy interventions. Familiarity with cultural competency and the ability to work sensitively with people from diverse backgrounds.
