Job Opportunity:
You will contribute to building trust and understanding between indigenous/multi-cultural communities and the Queensland Police Service. Your role will be to foster strong relationships between the community and law enforcement agencies.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Develop a deep understanding of First Nations cultures and traditions.
2. Assist police officers to effectively communicate with cultural sensitivity to members of the local community by providing advice on First Nations customs and protocols.
3. Collaborate with QPS members to identify opportunities to enhance community engagement and develop culturally appropriate crime prevention and early intervention strategies.
4. Provide support to First Nations community members to access policing services and offer guidance to QPS members on referral to other community services where necessary.
5. Engage proactively with First Nations Community Groups, including multicultural and multifaith groups, to identify and build community-based initiatives.
6. Identify and link key stakeholders across police, community, and government agencies in support of community-led programs to improve community safety.
