Role Overview
We are seeking a Technical Writer with a strong background in technical writing and instructional design to help shape the future of learning content creation.
You will focus on product innovation and design and be responsible for creating detailed technical and product specifications to guide software development.
Role Responsibilities
Technical Writing & Instructional Content Development
Research and write instructional materials and technical content for VET learning, including learner guides, assessments, manuals, and digital resources.
Create and maintain product documentation, training use cases, and example content to support AI training and quality control.
Ensure all generated and written outputs are accurate, relevant to workplace and industry contexts, and compliant with national training standards.
Review AI-generated content to ensure clarity, coherence, grammar, style, and formatting meet defined editorial and instructional quality standards.
Maintain consistency and legal/probity compliance across all content by applying editorial policies and templates.
Lead the planning, analysis and product specifications of an AI-powered product that generates compliant, high-quality learning content for the vocational education sector.
Conduct product research and user analysis to determine content generation needs, user flows, and opportunities for innovation.
Translate complex training requirements and frameworks (e.g. training packages, assessment standards) into clear, actionable product specifications.
Collaborate with software developers, AI engineers, and designers to guide the development of intelligent authoring tools.
Make data-informed decisions about product priorities and enhancements in line with market needs and compliance goals.
Collaboration & Quality Assurance
Work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to ensure AI-generated outputs are contextually and technically correct.
Partner with compliance and QA teams to align content with ASQA and training package requirements.
Provide continuous feedback to developers and data teams to improve AI-generated outputs.
Communicate project updates, risks, and changes clearly to stakeholders and ensure alignment across teams.
Requirements
Role Requirements
Proven experience in technical writing, or instructional design (experience within the VET sector is highly regarded).
Strong writing and editing skills, with a portfolio of training content, manuals, guides, or similar instructional materials.
Deep understanding of instructional design principles and VET compliance requirements (e.g., ASQA, training package rules).
Demonstrated ability to translate complex educational and regulatory requirements into user-centric product features and content specifications.
Strong collaboration skills and communication skills.
