Role
:
1. Prepare and instruct in complex criminal appeals in the Court of Appeal (conviction, sentence and Director's appeals) and any further application/appeal to the High Court.
2. Prepare and instruct in matters in the common law division of the Supreme Court and civil division of the Court of Appeal (, appeals).
3. Liaise with Court staff, Victoria Police, the Director, Crown Prosecutors and other stakeholders, including ensuring that suitable counsel is briefed in a timely manger and that appeals are properly presented before appellate courts.
As our ideal candidate you will have:
4. The demonstrated ability to prepare and conduct large and complex criminal litigation, including preparing and conducting Court of Appeal and High Court Proceedings.
5. Extensive knowledge and experience in criminal law and procedure, evidence and sentencing law and Court of Appeal processes.
6. The ability to work independently, balancing competing priorities and producing high quality work within tight time constraints.
