As the Clinical Psychologist in the Therapy Team, you will provide psychological assessment and therapeutic intervention to children referred to the Head to Health Kids service. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team of medical, nursing, and allied health clinicians, as well as other support staff.
The Head to Health Kids service prioritizes referrals for vulnerable families. Therefore, the intervention approach requires seeing the child within the context of the family and their social support structures. The role involves family and child-focused therapeutic interventions, emphasizing attachment, parent-child relationships, and parenting capacity to meet the child's emotional needs. Therapeutic approaches may include psychoeducation, working directly with children or parents/carers, family therapy, group work, and telehealth services.
This new service is part of a nationwide rollout of Kids Hubs, jointly funded by NSW Health and the Australian Government, to provide early intervention mental health and wellbeing support for children up to age 12.
