Job Description
The University of Newcastle seeks a dedicated academic to contribute to the teaching, assessment, and academic support of medical students enrolled in the Joint Medical Program (JMP).
This role plays a key part in curriculum development and demonstrates excellence across Teaching and Learning, Research and Innovation, and Service and Engagement.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Contribute to the teaching, assessment, and academic support of medical students enrolled in the JMP.
* Play a key role in curriculum development and demonstrate excellence across Teaching and Learning, Research and Innovation, and Service and Engagement.
* Selection Criteria:
* For appointment at Level B (Lecturer):
o Doctoral qualification or equivalent accreditation and standing in Medicine.
o Current registration as a medical practitioner with AHPRA with no restrictions or conditions.
o Proven experience in teaching, assessment, and/or curriculum development at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
o Evidence of leadership through peer mentoring or clinical leadership roles.
o A commitment to collaborative engagement with clinicians and health services to improve healthcare outcomes.
o Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
o A collaborative and adaptable approach to supporting all aspects of the JMP.
* For appointment at Level C (Senior Lecturer):
o Unconditional registration as a Specialist Medical Practitioner with AHPRA with recent clinical experience.
o Active Fellowship with a recognised Australian Specialty College.
o Demonstrated leadership in learning and teaching, including course coordination, curriculum development, and mentoring at undergraduate, honours and postgraduate levels.
o A strong record of clinical supervision of medical students, junior doctors, and registrars.
o A track record of collaborative, health-related research or quality improvement initiatives.
o Proven leadership and management capabilities.
