About the RoleWe're seeking an experienced and passionate Project Officer to join a high-priority initiative within the Australian Defence environment, specifically supporting the AIR06000PH2AB project.

Core ResponsibilitiesAs a Project Officer supporting project controls and scheduling, your key duties will include: Project Scheduling & Planning? Develop and maintain highly detailed project schedules in Open Plan Professional (OPP).
Map dependencies, constraints, logic paths, milestones, durations, and risks.
Create and manage Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and data dictionaries.
Provide critical input for schedule health checks and assurance activities.
Project Controls Develop standardised project artefacts across scope, schedule, cost, risk, and resources to enable robust baseline management.
Generate weekly, monthly, and ad-hoc reports to inform project status and decision-making at multiple levels.
Support monthly financial reporting, ensuring alignment between cost tracking and schedule progress.
Conduct detailed schedule analysis including variance analysis and impact assessments.
Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership Act as the central contact point for scheduling and controls-related inquiries from internal and external stakeholders.? Build strong working relationships across multiple Defence and delivery partner organisations.
Provide training, coaching, and mentoring in scheduling tools, techniques, and reporting formats.
Governance, Reporting & Decision Support Create executive-ready reports and dashboards using OPP outputs and PMO templates.
Prepare artefacts for Commonwealth Gate Submissions (CGS) and Investment Committee (IC) reviews.
Advise the Project Manager and executive stakeholders on project performance, schedule risk, and mitigation strategies.
Required Qualifications & ExperienceWe're looking for someone with deep expertise in scheduling and project controls, preferably in large-scale Defence or Government projects.
Essential Skills Scheduling – Level 3 (8–11 years): Proven capability in planning, forecasting, and monitoring schedules for complex projects.? Project Administration – Level 2 (4–7 years): Experience in administrative support functions for project teams.
Project Control – Level 3 (8–11 years): Advanced knowledge of tracking, analysis, and reporting across cost, time, and risk domains.
Desirable SkillsDefence or Defence Industry experience highly regarded.Experience with OPP, Primavera, or similar high-level scheduling platforms.Understanding of Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.Background in PMO reporting structures and stakeholder liaison.
Location RequirementsThis is a site-based role in Williamtown, NSW, located on a Defence base.
Remote work is not available due to project security and stakeholder engagement needs.
However, candidates based in Canberra are welcome to apply — travel support to Williamtown will be provided as required.
