We’re currently seeking a highly capable Data Engineer to deliver impactful, Azure-driven data solutions for a key Federal Government client. Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with data scientists, analysts, engineers and cloud architects to build and support Azure-based data solutions that align with business needs
- Design and maintain scalable ETL pipelines, ensuring secure, reliable and high-performance data transfers between systems
- Develop and maintain data models that prioritise accuracy, consistency and long-term scalability
- Promote data quality, security and governance throughout the entire data lifecycle
- Produce high-quality documentation including data workflows, architecture diagrams and technical specifications
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in a collaborative, solutions-focused manner
- Participate in agile ceremonies, code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement activities
- Stay current with evolving technologies and industry best practice in data engineering and integration
- Demonstrated experience in data engineering, including integration, ETL processes and data modelling, along with a sound understanding of data governance and compliance
- Advanced SQL skills with the ability to develop performance-optimised queries, functions and stored procedures
- Practical experience with Azure services such as Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, Machine Learning, Functions and Blob Storage
- Strong track record of managing competing priorities and delivering results under pressure
- Excellent stakeholder engagement, negotiation and communication skills, including with distributed teams
- Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with a natural ability to build and sustain effective working relationships
- A degree in Computer Science, IT or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience
- Certifications in Microsoft Azure Data Engineering or AWS Data Analytics
- Working knowledge of RESTful APIs and DevOps practices in Azure environments
- Familiarity with agile delivery frameworks and working in cross-functional teams
Location: Canberra, ACT (versatile arrangements considered) Clearance: NV1 Security Clearance is essential
