About Saltbush: Saltbush Social Enterprises is a place where stories of strength and resilience come together. We are a not-for-profit organisation based in the Northern Territory, dedicated to supporting individuals as they walk towards brighter futures. Our mission is to uplift and empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, through meaningful employment and community-driven programs.

The Role: The Assistant Manager provides hands-on operational leadership support to the Employment Services Program Manager, with a primary focus on the day-to-day coordination and delivery of the Indigenous Skills and Employment Program (ISEP).

This role supports the effective operation of ISEP by overseeing daily program logistics, staff coordination, participant engagement, and compliance requirements, while also contributing to broader Employment Services activities in Darwin.

This includes daily supervision and support of mentors, trainers, and support staff involved in ISEP delivery, participation in program activities, and the provision of feedback to guide performance and program quality.

In the absence of the Employment Services Program Manager, this role may be delegated responsibility for operational decision-making and program continuity, ensuring the seamless continuation of Employment Services and ISEP activities in Darwin.

The role supports the onboarding, induction, and probationary development of new Employment Services and ISEP team members, providing guidance to ensure staff can operate confidently and in alignment with Saltbush practices and expectations.

Additionally, the role will contribute to consistent practice across Employment Services by supporting staff understanding of Saltbush mentoring frameworks, ISEP delivery principles, and program protocols.

A key part of the role is to facilitate cohesive working relationships across Saltbush operational teams, ensuring ISEP is integrated with mentoring, wellbeing, employer engagement, and organisational priorities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

To ensure success in your role as an Assistant Manager, you will:

* Support mentors and trainers to develop strong, culturally safe relationships with participants, ensuring person-centred and trauma-informed practice across ISEP delivery.
* Support the coordinated transition of ISEP participants into volunteering, training, and employment by working closely with mentors, the Engagement Officer, employers, and providers to ensure participants are ready, supported, and appropriately placed.
* Engage with and maintain strong working relationships with Workforce Australia providers, Centrelink, and referral partners, ensuring clear communication regarding attendance, participation, and progress within ISEP.
* Promote Fee-for-Service activities of Employment Services where relevant, while prioritising contractual obligations and outcomes for ISEP.
* Ensure participants can access resources and services that support barrier reduction, wellbeing, and readiness for work, including coordinating referrals to counselling, support services, and external agencies.
* Participate in, and where required support, the delivery of ISEP workshops, information sessions, and engagement activities.
* Assist with the development of marketing and engagement materials relevant to ISEP information sessions, employer engagement, and participant recruitment.
* Participate in the recruitment, induction, and ongoing support of ISEP staff.
* Provide day-to-day operational support of ISEP delivery, including: Scheduling staff, sessions, and venues, coordinating transport, catering, and program logistics, monitoring participant attendance and engagement, identifying risks or disengagement early and escalating appropriately.
* Participate in internal meetings, representing Employment Services and ISEP, and contribute to monthly reporting, contract compliance, and good news stories.
* Oversee digital record keeping by maintaining DEX reporting, compliance requirements, and provide advice to the Program Manager on risks or compliance issues.
* Assist in the development and continuous improvement ISEP delivery, quality, and outcomes.

Essential Selection Criteria:

* Demonstrated experience working in a culturally diverse environment, with a strong understanding of culturally safe and person-centred practice.
* Demonstrated ability to lead, support, and coordinate staff within a live program environment.
