Job Description

The ASC group is responsible for various submarine-related projects. We built and sustain the Collins Class submarines, and we are now delivering their Life of Type Extension to increase the boats' service lives.

Our team has been selected by the Australian Government to sustain and build the nation's conventionally armed, nuclear-powered submarines – the largest and most complex industrial undertaking in Australia's history.

Our work is interesting and meaningful, contributing directly to Australia's national security.

We offer rewarding roles that provide the opportunity to grow your career, and the flexibility to balance life and work.

A career at this organization delivers a deeper purpose we can all be proud of.

About the Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to join the pioneering SSN AUKUS Build Program as a Senior/Principal Nuclear Engineer – Facilities, supporting the integration of nuclear safety, security, and safeguards into the design, construction, and operation of submarine-supporting infrastructure.

You'll work within the Nuclear IPT, collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure regulatory compliance and readiness for licensed nuclear operations.

Key Responsibilities

* Support design, construction, and commissioning phases with nuclear engineering expertise.
* Participate in assurance and compliance activities, contributing to licensing documentation.
* Collaborate with NSQEPs, engineering teams, and external stakeholders to resolve technical issues.
* Identify and implement improvements in nuclear facility engineering processes and documentation.
* Maintain facility-related nuclear documentation under configuration control.
* Assist in identifying and managing nuclear-related risks associated with facility build and operations.

About You

* Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical, Electrical, Nuclear, or related Engineering discipline.
* 5+ years' experience in nuclear, defence, or highly regulated engineering environments.
* Knowledge of nuclear safety, security, and safeguards principles.
* Familiarity with systems engineering, requirements management, and regulatory frameworks.
* Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
* Experience in submarine or naval nuclear programs.
* Exposure to safety case development and licensing submissions.
* Experience with configuration management and technical assurance processes.
* Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.

This role requires a current National Police Clearance and an Australian Defence Security Clearance to an NV1 level.

Eligibility is dependent on obtaining and maintaining such clearance.

The position may require periodic domestic and international travel and availability for collaboration calls outside normal working hours (UK timezone).
