About The Role
FTI Consulting is home to one of the world's leading independent economic and financial consulting practices, helping clients understand today's economic, financial and regulatory opportunities and challenges. We are seeking talented Consultants or Senior Consultants to join our Economic and Financial Consulting (EFC) team. The selected applicant(s) will be an integral part of this fast‐growing practice, working with team members locally, nationally and internationally.
The selected Consultant/Senior Consultant (2‐5 years' experience) will work across the segments of the Economic and Financial Consulting team, with a focus on Energy & Decarbonisation. Our team, which includes economists, engineers, government and regulatory specialists, commercial and strategy advisors, and modellers, works with businesses, investors, governments, regulators and market institutions to find bespoke solutions to meet our client's needs.
A successful applicant is capable of tackling novel and intricate economic challenges with precision and expertise. The ideal candidate will possess a deep interest in the quantitative analysis of energy markets, be proficient in applying sophisticated modelling tools, and will be entrusted with overseeing key project components while beginning to develop client relationships.
What You'll Do
* Undertake economic research and analysis to inform our clients' decisions.
* Conduct quantitative analysis of large energy market data sets and optimisation modelling using PLEXOS and bespoke optimisation models.
* Contribute to the development and improvement of models and modelling processes.
* Support and contribute to the production of reports, presentations and other client deliverables.
* Assist with business development, preparing proposals and bids.
* Develop and acquire new skills through internal and external training and educational opportunities and by working closely with existing team experts.
* Work as part of a team to contribute to a positive workplace culture and support a collective work‐life balance.
* Develop relationships with our global team of experts and with new and existing clients.
* Learn and develop your existing expertise by gaining exposure to a wide range of projects and to FTI's team of global experts.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a proven track record in applying professional expertise in the energy sector to a rapidly growing Australian practice of a large and established global firm. Qualifications & Experience
* Tertiary qualifications in Economics, Engineering, Commerce or a related field are required. A Master's degree or PhD are desirable, but other qualifications will be considered.
* 2 to 5 years of experience in consulting firms, industry or government.
* Relevant experience in the focus areas described above.
* Deep understanding of the energy sector challenges.
* Experience using energy market modelling tools, e.g., PLEXOS, and/or other coding languages such as Python or R.
* Experience communicating findings to a broad spectrum of people.
* Experience working within a team to develop and deliver innovative solutions to complex problems.
