**Therapeutic Residential Care Worker Role Summary**

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated individual to join our team as a Therapeutic Residential Care Worker. This is an exciting opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of vulnerable children and young people.

**About the Role:**

* This role involves working with children and young people who have experienced trauma, providing a nurturing and supportive environment that promotes healing, emotional growth, and development of positive attitudes and life skills.
* You will engage with the children and young people to develop a positive relationship, assist each child to deal with their trauma-based responses, and support their emotional, physical, psychological, and cultural development.

**Requirements and Qualifications:**

* A commitment to the values that underpin our organisation's vision and purpose.
* An appreciation of Aboriginal societies and cultures, with a high level of awareness of the key issues that impact upon Aboriginal communities.
* The ability to work collaboratively with Aboriginal children with complex and diverse needs.
* The ability to respond therapeutically to Aboriginal children's pain-based behaviours, indicating an understanding of the impact of trauma and disrupted attachment on children.
* The ability to provide therapeutic parenting to children who have been traumatised.
* Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to write case notes, Incident Reports, and reports on the children as required.
* Valid Police Check, Working with Children's Check, and Victorian Driver Licence.
