Casual Barge Operator
The Who
Sea Harvest Marine Engineering is responsible for refitting and maintaining the company's own fleet of prawn trawl and fishing vessels. It also provides ship repair and maintenance to external customers.
Our primary dock side facilities are strategically located in Fishing Boat Harbour, in the heart of Fremantle. Sea Harvest Marine also has the contract to maintain Fishing Boat Harbour free from weed and debris that is washed in with the tides.
The Role
Applications are now being sought for a suitably qualified casual Barge Operator to undertake weed and rubbish removal duties within the confines of Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour.
For this position, Sea Harvest Marine has designed and constructed a purpose-built, safe and effective vessel. As the barge traverses the harbour, weed and rubbish flow through a one-way gate at the bow and into a large open collection basket. The basket is then unloaded into a waste bin by marine engineering staff utilising a crane.
Hours of work will vary in accordance with operational requirements. On average however, there will be 3-4 hours per day, 5-6 days per week.
Remuneration shall be circa $32 - $40 hr. Sea Harvest also offers a highly valued and free Worker Assistance Program to support all employees and share fishers and their immediate families.
Required Qualification
Applicants must currently possess one of the following AMSA Domestic qualifications:
* Coxswain Grade 1 (near coastal)
* Any Master near coastal certification
