 
        
        As the Sky News Senior Reporter based in Sydney, you will have a proven track record covering breaking news and generating original, dynamic and compelling stories. You will be confident on camera as a senior reporter with the potential for news presenting opportunities. You will have sound news judgement, strong contacts and thrive at news conferences. In the role you will be reporting live and package news stories which impact Sydney and regional New South Wales, as well as national content. 
The role will require the flexibility to work early mornings and late-night shifts, depending on the assignment. Typically, this role will require you to work on stories ranging from news of the day to natural disasters and politics. 
Key Responsibilities 
- Working closely with the Newsgathering Editor and senior editorial staff to decide upon daily news coverage. 
- Report live from location on breaking news stories, multiple times a day. 
- Generate original news stories with the capacity to write, shoot and edit both short and long-form news content 
- File for Sky News’ digital platforms. 
- Undertake interviewing and reporting duties, in both recorded and live scenarios within studios and outdoor environments. 
- Work with editorial teams to ensure news packages are delivered to a high standard. 
- Build on an effective network of contacts. 
- Pitch original news stories and ideas. 
- Thoroughly understand legal requirements and media law. 
- Strong understanding of state and federal politics 
Who are you? 
- Minimum of 7 years’ television reporting experience 
- Robust news judgement and contacts with experience in live and breaking news 
- Excellent time management skills, the ability to multitask and work to strict deadlines 
- Attention to detail and strong technical understanding 
- Flexibility around working day and hours 
- Ability to write engaging, accurate and crisp copy, quickly, and under pressure 
- Ability to operate broadcast equipment (training will be provided)
