We are currently seeking an experienced Metal Machine Setter – Metal Machinist to join our manufacturing team in Melbourne.
Key Responsibilities:
· Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to determine appropriate machine setup.
· Set up and adjust metalworking machinery including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC equipment.
· Select and install suitable cutting tools, jigs, and fixtures for each job.
· Align and secure workpieces and tools accurately to ensure precision.
· Conduct trial runs and make necessary adjustments for optimal operation.
· Monitor machine operations and inspect finished products to maintain high quality standards.
· Perform routine maintenance and identify mechanical issues early.
· Collaborate with machinists, engineers, and quality control teams to improve production efficiency.
Skills and Competencies:
· Strong understanding of machining principles and metal properties.
· Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments such as micrometres and callipers.
· Ability to accurately interpret technical drawings and CAD files.
· Experience with both CNC programming and manual machine operation.
· High attention to detail and strong commitment to safety and quality.
· Effective problem-solving and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
