Overview

The Opportunity UniSC is seeking a knowledgeable, positive and proactive Workplace Relations Consultant to provide expert advice on complex workplace and industrial relations matters. Reporting to the Associate Director, Workplace Relations and Business Partnering, you'll play a key role in shaping a best practise, contemporary, compliant and people first culture. From enterprise bargaining and policy development to complex investigations and case management, you'll support leaders across the University and contribute to meaningful, high-impact initiatives. Location: UniSC Sunshine Coast, Sippy Downs. Level 8, $115,240 - $130,514 (pro rata) p.a, plus up to 17% employer superannuation. Part-time (0.8 FTE / 29 hours per week), ongoing appointment.


Responsibilities

* Support the leadership and delivery of the workplace relations function for the University.
* Provide contemporary, expert advice and recommendations to stakeholders on complex workplace and industrial relations issues and other People and Culture matters.
* Contribute to the University's enterprise bargaining strategy, including the provision of strategic advice, planning and communications and act as a member of the University's enterprise bargaining team.
* Develop and implement workplace relations initiatives and projects and contribute to the evaluation of strategies and policy that advance the University's workplace relations framework.
* Manage the University's conduct and compliance response, ensuring a framework for the management of complaints, public interest disclosures, corrupt conduct and conflicts of interest.
* Foster effective relationships with stakeholders including relevant unions and industrial associations, executive and senior staff.


About you / Qualifications

* Relevant tertiary qualifications (e.g., Human resources, law) with extensive experience; including specialist expertise or broad knowledge in employee relations and/or human resource management.
* Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the Australian industrial relations framework, including employment-related legislation, anti-discrimination, employment and workplace health and safety, and experience in the development, review, interpretation and application of human resources policies and procedures, awards and industrial agreements.
* Demonstrated experience in partnering with clients and stakeholders to provide a high level of employment law and industrial relations advice to senior staff and managers.
* Demonstrated high level interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate, analyse, problem solve, consult, negotiate to resolve workplace issues and grievances, draft policy and enterprise agreement provisions, and prepare reports to senior staff.
* Demonstrated experience in change management processes.
* Provide specialist advice and support to key internal and external stakeholders including Senior P&C Business Partners, senior staff, managers/supervisors, unions and lawyers across the full range of workplace relations functions in a complex multi-campus environment.
* Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary human resource management issues and strategies and the ability to influence and encourage collaboration with stakeholders in an environment of change.
* Ability to work independently on priorities and projects as well as part of a collaborative team.
* Excellent written communication skills and experience in the development and implementation of policies and procedures relating to staff conduct and compliance.
* Extensive knowledge and substantial practical experience in employee dispute resolution including the management of employee complaints.
