About Greenstock
Launched in 2021, Greenstock consolidated the Woolworths Group’s existing red meat livestock procurement, processing, trading and supply teams. Greenstock now acts as Woolworths’ end-to-end upstream red meat supply chain expert, combining deep industry expertise with advanced analytics to deliver high-quality and sustainable beef, lamb and pork to Woolworths’ existing and developing sales channels in Retail and Foodservice.
About the role
The Head of Planning manages the Planning function for Greenstock which coordinates the forward forecasting of raw material level requirements to service the demand channels, in addition to short term production plan coordination and sequencing.
This role will lead, coach and develop the four-person Planning team for Greenstock, and partner closely with the planning teams across our secondary manufacturing sites assisting in the design and implementation of the new S&OP model in addition to developing and implementing the strategic initiatives over a 3-5 year horizon.
Through strong end to end supply chain partnership, the Head of Planning will lead the team to evaluate and review long term forecasting and short term planning for effectiveness in balancing availability, site-level restrictions and cost.
Strategic initiatives will be focused on delivering operational excellence across our $Bn manufacturing partnerships, through which Greenstock operates with twelve Primary Processing sites, processing approximately 10K cattle, 24K lambs and 14K pigs per week together with supplementary purchasing activities and secondary processing arrangements.
This role will have responsibilities across both planning, specifically in forward forecasting of raw material requirements to service the demand channels, and also in the leadership of a team of Planning Specialists and their ongoing career development.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
4. Consolidation and conversion of demand from all channels into forward forecasts of raw material requirements over multiple time horizons.
5. Coordination of short term production plans and sequencing for 12 Primary Processing sites across three different proteins (Beef, Lamb & Pork), servicing 3 Secondary Processing facilities in addition to foodservice and export channels.
6. Assist in the design and implementation of the new S&OP model in addition to developing and implementing the strategic initiatives over a 3-5 year horizon.
7. Coach and develop a highly engaged team to deliver the strategic plan.
8. Ensure alignment of the Planning strategy to overall customer and business needs.
9. Foster collaborative and strong working relationships across Greenstock, the Woolworths ecosystem and external partners.
10. Develop a culture that inspires the team to consistently perform at their best.
11. Understand and evaluate current processes end to end, with the ability to improve and execute.
Who we are looking for
The Head of Planning role requires proven experience in a number of capabilities including forecasting and scheduling, sales and operations planning, people and performance management and project management.
Ability to solve complex problems is key, dealing with ambiguity, ability to identify process issues and conduct root cause analysis to develop solutions.
This position requires high competence in communication, influencing and leadership as well as the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders across Greenstock, the Woolworths ecosystem and external partners (Primary and Secondary Manufacturing).
Requirements:
12. Degree in supply chain management, logistics, or sufficient relevant industry experience.
13. 10+ years experience in planning and supply chain management. Temperature controlled FMCG background preferred, with meat industry experience highly desired.
14. Demonstrable skills in leading teams, matrix management and collaboration.
15. Influencing in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
16. Management of projects in tandem with day to day operations.
17. Exposure to generating and interpreting financial reporting.
18. Short shelf life product supply chains.
19. Relevant exposure and understanding of planning systems (Quintiq experience highly desired).
