About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated Community Ministry Worker to help grow and enrich our local mission through meaningful engagement, discipleship pathways, and community‑focused initiatives. As a Community Ministry Worker, you will play a key role in connecting our Corps with the wider community. You'll help newcomers feel at home, support people on their faith journey, and create opportunities for evangelism, discipleship, and spiritual growth. You'll also lead programs such as the ALPHA course, coordinate volunteers, and contribute to the ongoing development of community ministries.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on building relationships, has a heart for mission, and is excited to see lives transformed through the love of Jesus. This is a permanent Part‑Time role based in Tweed Heads - South Gold Coast Corps. Salary is in accordance with Hay Level 12.


How You Will Make An Impact

* Foster meaningful connections between Corps members, newcomers, and the local community.
* Assess community needs and collaborate with leadership to develop programs that encourage evangelism, discipleship, and spiritual growth.
* Lead and coordinate the ALPHA course and other discipleship initiatives.
* Support existing ministries and help develop new community engagement activities.
* Build strong relationships with newcomers and establish clear pathways into faith, ministry involvement, and membership.
* Engage with local organisations, councils, churches, businesses, and not‑for‑profits to support current and future mission opportunities.
* Facilitate worship gatherings, discipleship groups, small groups, and special events.
* Encourage individuals to discover and use their gifts for the benefit of the community, modelling Christlike leadership.
* Recruit, train, and support volunteers from both the Corps and the wider community.
* Develop volunteer roles aligned with Corps strategy and individual strengths.
* Ensure volunteers are managed in accordance with TSA policies and procedures.
* Promote volunteer wellbeing and celebrate their contributions.
* Maintain accurate data using TSA information management systems.
* Complete financial tasks such as invoicing, purchasing, banking, and receipting donations.
* Create communications about programs, events, and opportunities to get involved.
* Provide general administrative support as required.


What You Will Bring

* Experience in community engagement within a religious or not‑for‑profit setting.
* A demonstrated commitment to the Christian faith and the mission of The Salvation Army.
* Ability to offer pastoral care, prayer, and explain the Christian Gospel.
* Experience developing and delivering community‑based programs.
* Experience managing volunteers or staff.
* Strong communication skills, including confidence in public speaking and relationship building.
