We are growing a thriving Perth‐based geoscience team and are seeking a Junior Hydrogeologist who is keen to build strong technical foundations while working on impactful projects across the resources, water, dams, and civil infrastructure sectors.
This role is ideal for someone in the early stages of their hydrogeology career who is looking for hands‐on experience, mentoring from senior professionals, and exposure to large‐scale, technically diverse projects.
Who We're Looking For
As a Hydrogeologist at KCB, you will work as part of an experienced and supportive hydrogeology team on large‐scale resource and infrastructure projects in Australia and internationally. You will gain exposure across both field and office‐based hydrogeology, with opportunities to progressively build responsibility as your capability grows.
You will work closely with senior hydrogeologists, engineers, and geoscientists, contributing to high‐quality technical outcomes while continuing to develop your skills in a collaborative environment.
What you will do
* Assist with hydrogeological investigations and assessments, including:
o Field data collection and interpretation
o Site investigation planning and coordination
o Development of aquifer conceptual models
o Contribution to technical reports and documentation
* Participate in field programs, including:
o Drilling and aquifer testing supervision
o Groundwater and surface water sampling
o Bore construction and completion
o Contractor and site coordination
o Field mapping and data validation
* Learn from and collaborate with experienced hydrogeologists and multidisciplinary teams across a variety of projects.
* Support broader geoscience, engineering, and environmental studies as required.
* Build strong relationships with project managers, clients, and regulators, with guidance and mentoring.
What You Bring
* Bachelor's degree in Hydrogeology, Geology, or Geoscience (Postgraduate qualifications are advantageous but not essential).
* Ideally 2–4 years of professional experience in hydrogeology or related geoscience roles, including:
o Fieldwork (e.g. drilling supervision, logging, groundwater sampling, hydraulic testing)
o Office‐based tasks such as groundwater data analysis, bore log compilation, hydrographs, aquifer test interpretation, and report contribution
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with a willingness to continue developing technical writing capability.
* Interest in working on resource and infrastructure projects.
* Willingness to undertake domestic and occasional international travel for field assignments.
* A proactive attitude, good time management, and a desire to learn.
