Senior Medical Practitioner - Psychiatry

Salary: MP Year 1-3 $334,456 - $355,785 p.a. (inclusive of base salary and applicable allowances)

Currently we are seeking a Senior Medical Practitioner (SMP) - Psychiatry to join our team to provide a 7-day service at Fiona Stanley Hospital.

Based in the Emergency Department, you will also provide a consultation liaison service in general wards and other parts of the hospital as needed.

This position works on a roster that includes weekend and after-hours work based on operational requirements, and in accordance with the Medical Practitioners Agreement. This includes Monday to Friday 3:00pm to 11:00pm, weekends 8:00pm to 4:00pm.

Workload is very manageable. You will share work with another SMP. Also, a Registrar will work alongside you.

About the Role

Responsible for the mental health assessment, treatment, and management of clients with mental health illness as well as the provision of service to their families and carers, promoting patient safety and quality of care. Works as a clinician within a multidisciplinary team environment and works closely with other agencies to promote close community partnerships.

Provides orientation, training, supervision, and education, where relevant, for Doctors in Training and other health workers. Works to achieve national, state and South Metropolitan Health Service (SMHS) performance standards and targets. Works within the scope of clinical practice as defined and recommended by the SMHS Area Medical Credentialing Committee.

Fiona Stanley Hospital (FSH) is a 783-bed tertiary hospital offering a range of health services including the State Rehabilitation Service, a comprehensive cancer centre, purpose-built mental health unit, maternity, paediatric and neonatal services, and the State Adult Burns Service. FSH also delivers specialised services such as heart and lung transplantations and hyperbaric medicine.
