We are looking for a highly skilled Network Engineer with experience in on-premise and Cloud networks, and a proven track‐record of delivering solutions and driving outcomes. This role is critical in ensuring secure, scalable, and optimised network connectivity, future strategy across hybrid environments, with an emphasis on integrating security into the broader network domain. We have three core priorities: building best‐in‐class people to support DDG's efforts, underpinned by best‐in‐class global platforms, supported by best‐in‐class sovereign capabilities.
Our goal is to provide warfighters the required technologies and connectivity needed to fight and win in the digital age. This role is critical to this, and will form part of larger project teams to drive development of new solutions and deliver key capabilities. This function resides within a newly established Branch, where a high degree of autonomy will be provided.
About our Team
You will be part of a team of ICT professionals delivering complex projects across key Digital domains in both the Military and Enterprise Systems Divisions within Defence Digital Group (DDG). This role will provide technical advice in support of developing current and future Australian Defence Force (ADF) capability and technical engineering patterns to maintain current ADF ICT Networks.
As a Digital Engineer in DDG you may either:
* Contribute to a team of ICT professionals experienced in key technology platforms/products, or

Our Ideal Candidate
You will have the following skills, experience and exposure:
* You have experience designing, deploying, and managing large-scale distributed networks, including secure environments, dispersed infrastructures, data centers, SD‐WAN, hybrid/multi‐cloud networks, and DNS architectures.
* You are familiar with cloud-based solutions like Netskope, Zscaler, Cloudflare, Netscaler, and SD‐WAN. You understand VPN technologies (site-to-site, SSL) and NGFW features such as DPI, IPS, DLP, and URL filtering.
* You have demonstrated knowledge in Zero Trust Architecture and have applied ISM, Essential Eight (E8), and technical assurance frameworks. You can translate business needs into secure, scalable, and resilient network designs. You also maintain accurate documentation and technical reports.
* You will collaborate across cross‐functional teams, and deliver outcomes using Agile methodologies. Your attitude and work ethic aligns with Defence values, contribute to a high‐performing culture, and support professional growth within your team.
