About the role
Join our Clinical Microbiology team as a Registrar and take the next step in your career within the SA Pathology, Microbiology and Infectious Diseases training programme. You will gain hands-on experience in diagnosing infectious diseases and providing clinical care to both in-patients and out-patients under expert supervision, while building towards FRCPA and/or FRACP accreditation.
This role offers a rich learning environment where you will contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education, participate in clinico-pathological patient reviews, and engage in research and development activities. You will also support and supervise junior Resident and Intern staff, helping to foster a collaborative and educational workplace while developing your own professional expertise.
Ability to work co-operatively with other members of the Department and a willingness to participate in a broad range of activities within the Department.
* Communicating significant results to the clinician at the earliest possible time and providing assistance with the interpretation of results and selection of appropriate treatment as required (commensurate with the trainees experience).
* Participate in the after-hours and on call Microbiology and Infectious Diseases service
* Participating in laboratory test performance and resulting in collaboration with scientific & technical staff as required.
The MID Directorate at SA Pathology covers all sub-specialty areas in infectious diseases diagnostics, including a whole genome sequencing (WGS) service.
This position would suit an infectious diseases registrar seeking to complete a dedicated 6 months in the microbiology laboratory or a recent graduate seeking additional microbiology experience or genomics certification.

• Hold a medical degree registrable with the Medical Board of South Australia
• Work effectively with multidisciplinary teams including clinicians and lab staff
• Demonstrate strong clinical knowledge, communication skills and professional judgement
• Commit to achieving FRCPA and/or FRACP accreditation within agreed timeframes
