For over 40 years, the Illawarra Aboriginal Medical Service (IAMS) has been proudly committed to providing high quality and comprehensive health care that meets personal, community and cultural needs.
We are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Dental Assistant to join our friendly team to assist in the provision of dental care to clients of the IAMS and ensure the optimal functioning of the dental clinic.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide assistance to the dental clinician during treatment of clients as required.
* Ensure the proper and efficient process of arranging client appointments and providing dental services.
* Assist with stock control, ordering consumables and other materials necessary for the optimal operation of the dental clinic.
* Ensure the correct sterilisation of instruments and record of sterilisation as required by Australian Standards.
* Maintain dental patient record system and ensure all data is entered onto computer system
* Ensure the preparation and cleaning of clinic for clients before and after treatment.
About you:
* Previous experience in a similar role in a dental healthcare setting.
* Solid knowledge of dentistry including instruments, oral hygiene and infection control.
* Commitment to confidentiality and cultural safety.
* Excellent manual dexterity and communication skills.
* Empathy and the ability to work under pressure.
* Familiarity with dental software/programs and the ability to learn new systems.
* Certificate III or higher in Dental Assisting will be highly regarded.
