Careers & Candidates
Posted: 4 June
Offer description

Careers & Candidates is partnering with a well‐established manufacturing business, based in Broadmeadows, looking to bring the HR function inhouse.

The role offers WFH flexibility, which will vary depending on what issues and projects you are managing and the need to have F2F meetings and be present in the office.

Initially engaged on a 6‐month contract, this role has genuine long‐term potential to evolve into a broader HR leadership/generalist position covering the full HR function.

Key Focus of Initial 6‐Month Role
* Developing the framework and formal policies to support employee relations management
* Managing employee and industrial relations matters
* Reviewing and improving Enterprise Bargaining Agreements (5 EBAs)
* Managing union involvement across multiple unions including CFMEU
* Assisting with employment contracts and HR compliance frameworks
* Providing practical HR advice to leaders and employees
* Building strong workforce engagement and stakeholder relationships

The Directors are experienced in dealing with the unions and value their existing positive and cooperative relationships. This role will assist with further negotiations and the implementation of changes and compliance, but is not needed to take a leading role in negotiations.

To be considered for the permanent role, you will need to have experience across all areas of HR management. You will lead the HR function as the organisation's sole HR practitioner, working collaboratively with the Directors across strategic and day‐to‐day people matters. This is a hands‐on opportunity, suited to an HR professional who can work autonomously and who is comfortable operating in a blue‐collar environment and can build credibility across all levels of the workforce.

About You
* Strong Employee & Industrial Relations experience; and broader HR experience for the permanent role.
* Background in manufacturing, logistics, construction or other blue‐collar environments.
* Some experience in working with unions and diverse stakeholder groups.
* Solid understanding of HR compliance, employment legislation and workplace relations.
* Practical, resilient and approachable communication style.
* Ability to gain trust on the floor and in the boardroom.
