Role Summary
">
This is a mid-senior level part-time role in the communications stream of the Faculty Marketing and Engagement team. The successful candidate will help initiate, plan and project-manage digital and social communications, content, and facilitation of media opportunities across the Business, Economics and Law Faculty for reputation and research initiatives.
The role involves developing and managing targeted communications strategies, including e-communications and newsletters, written content, social media and print initiatives that strengthen relationships and collaborations with stakeholders, students and key external audiences.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in designing and successfully executing strategic corporate communications for an organisation. They will also possess high-level organisational skills, including the ability to independently prioritise competing work demands and identify and initiate improvements to business practices.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Initiating and providing strategic communication recommendations, advice and support to the Faculty, its business units and schools, and the central communications team.
* Developing and managing targeted communications strategies, including e-communications and newsletters, written content, social media and print initiatives that strengthen relationships and collaborations with stakeholders, students and key external audiences.
* Project managing the delivery of the ongoing communications and content strategy, plans and reporting across digital and engagement channels, supporting the delivery and dissemination of targeted, timely and engaging stories and content.
* Identifying and triaging staff, student and alum talent; newsworthy research and Faculty opportunities to assist the central communications team to target news media on areas of strategic priority to BEL and UQ to enhance reputation, research and recruitment.
* Producing, contributing and editing copy for School, Faculty and University marketing materials including, but not limited to websites, web articles, newsletters and magazines.
* Maintaining quality assurance standards and ensuring all marketing and communication material and content are accurate and comply with UQ standards.
* Maintaining high-quality data governance to ensure all data used in communication activities is up-to-date and complies with UQ standards, industry best practices and legal requirements.
* Building productive relationships to proactively and collaboratively identify opportunities to profile the university, students, alums, research, projects, partnerships, academics and staff.
* Monitoring online engagement and effectiveness of communications and content strategies.
* Supporting team members across the communications stream to provide leadership in technical, developmental and stakeholder guidance as required.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:
* Degree in marketing or communications, or a relevant discipline and extensive relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training.
* Demonstrated experience in designing and successfully executing strategic corporate communications for an organisation.
* Demonstrated high-level organisational skills, including the ability to independently prioritise competing work demands and identify and initiate improvements to business practices.
* Demonstrated ability to write engagingly for target audiences using a variety of mediums, including web, print, social media and earned media.
* Demonstrated high-level interpersonal and oral communication skills, including the ability to negotiate, provide advice and liaise with a wide range of individuals.
* Impeccable grammar, attention to detail and proven editing experience.
* Ability to work collaboratively in a complex organisation, and proven experience managing stakeholder relations.
* Ability to use sound judgement, act independently and take initiative with minimal direction, and work effectively as part of a management team.
