General Manager – Community & Events (6-Month Contract – New Year Start)
Netball NSW – Sydney Olympic Park, New South Wales, Australia.
Contract – 6 months (January **** – July ****).
Purpose of the Position
The role is to grow the GIANTS Netball fan base by managing, planning and executing the delivery of GIANTS Netball events and developing and executing a community and fan engagement strategy.
Additionally, the role will assist with Netball NSW events where required, increase membership, grow ticket sales, and maintain the GIANTS Netball database.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and implement community & fan engagement strategy with a focus on growing the number of members and fans.
Lead and manage fan engagement activities, in conjunction with GIANTS Netball Consumer Business Manager, Community & Fan Engagement Coordinator, Commercial and Marketing team, and GIANTS Events Coordinator for all home games.
Lead and manage the GIANTS Netball activations plan across the state, including player appearances.
Deliver high-quality events and game day experience for Netball NSW, ensuring planning, logistics, documentation and execution are at best practice level.
Adhere to budgets set for the position and manage event budgets.
Assist with delivery of pre-season games, home games and finals of the Suncorp Super Netball League.
Attend meetings with Suncorp Super Netball Operations staff to build strong relationships.
Produce detailed event plans for Netball NSW events.
Manage match day requirements for visiting teams.
Liaise with Marketing and Commercial departments to meet sponsorship and promotion requirements.
Liaise with GIANTS team officials and the Team Operations Manager to meet team operational objectives.
Assist with delivery of Netball Australia sanctioned events and Netball NSW events such as State Dinner.
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across the state.
Abide by, promote and enforce Netball NSW policies.
Prepare written reports and attend sub-committee, Board and Council meetings as required.
Manage and lead staff reporting to the position.
Perform any other duties requested by the CEO or Executive General Manager.
Selection Criteria
Qualifications & Experience
Minimum five years of experience in events, ideally in a sporting environment.
Relevant tertiary qualifications in events/sports management/business administration (desirable).
Experience in sport/not-for-profit industry (desirable).
Current driver's license and own vehicle.
Knowledge & Skills
Understanding of sporting culture and not-for-profit organisations.
High level of computer expertise covering word processing, presentation software, database skills and Microsoft Office.
Excellent phone manner and written skills.
Strong analytical and business negotiation skills.
Clear, professional oral and written communication skills.
Competence with the Microsoft Office suite.
Demonstrated creative ability.
Ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
Experience in administration management.
High level interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
