About The Opportunity
SWSLHD Mental Health Service is recruiting for a Nurse Unit Manager (Level 2) for an adult mental health rehabilitation unit located at Liverpool hospital. The unit provides expert rehabilitation interventions by delivering effective recovery-based treatments for consumers with complex and enduring mental health conditions. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic and collaborative multidisciplinary team with a strong commitment to safety and consumer advocacy and recovery focused mental health care. As the NUM, you will have the opportunity to provide expert clinical leadership in the development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives and innovative models of care. Liverpool mental health is one of the largest mental health inpatient facilities in NSW, with six units including Acute Adult, High Dependency, Sub Acute, and Psychiatric Emergency Care. Nurses and NUMs are supported to engage in further study to evolve their understanding of mental health care and develop their leadership capability. Our units emphasise diversity and compassionate care, partnering with community services to assist integration back to community living.

What You'll Be Doing
The Nursing Unit Manager (NUM) is in-charge of all aspects of the unit environment and takes overall responsibility for the standard of patient care in the unit. The NUM coordinates patient care, unit management and leadership to ensure delivery of high quality patient care and efficient use of resources.
Where You'll Be Working
SWSLHD Inpatient Mental Health Services provide care across facilities including the newly redeveloped Campbelltown Hospital and Liverpool Hospital. The services offer a protected and therapeutic environment for individuals with acute and non-acute mental health needs. Multidisciplinary teams deliver care through specialised units such as the Mental Health Intensive Care Unit, Adult Acute Unit, and Older People's Mental Health Unit. The service maintains external accreditation with the Australian Council on Healthcare Standards and supports professional development.

- Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) and relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent work experience or a combination of study and experience deemed appropriate by SWSLHD.
- Demonstrated senior nursing experience with experience in leading staff and managing services in a relevant setting.
- Proven ability to ensure the human, physical and financial resources of the unit are managed to provide safe, compassionate, quality care that is culturally responsive.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and engage with patients/consumers, carers and the multidisciplinary health care team to identify and ensure responsiveness of care needs.
- Demonstrated capacity to interact with others in a personable and professional manner and manage conflicts and performance issues when they arise.
- Demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the management of the unit and the delivery of evidenced based nursing care.
- Demonstrated understanding and participation in risk management, work health and safety and quality improvement in the workplace.
