Doomadgee State School is situated in the remote Aboriginal community of Doomadgee, along the banks of the Nicholson River.

The role focuses on providing support for students with mild to moderate mental health concerns. 
Wellbeing professionals employed through the Wellbeing Workforce work as part of the schools' established student support teams to enhance wellbeing and mental health support for students, ensuring access to a wellbeing professional at school for Queensland primary and secondary state school students. 
Responsibilities 
- Assessing client needs, developing care plans, connecting clients with resources and services, advocating for their rights and offering emotional support. 
- Provide qualified support and information for students, parents, carers and school communities that facilitate partnerships in decision making for enhancement of all students' learning. 
- Use evidence-based intervention strategies to support young people experiencing challenges with mental health, and social and emotional wellbeing. 
- Provide therapeutic counselling and support through individual or group sessions to address mild to moderate mental health concerns. 
- Facilitate referrals to other allied health professionals and services and assist students and families to access this support. 
- Support school communities in responding to critical incidents and emergencies as a part of the school response team. 
- Participate as a member of a multidisciplinary team within an educational setting, providing support to school, community and interagency/networks relevant to the position.

The successful person will have access to Department of Education housing, and may be entitled to relocation support.
